One of Mary Kate and Mikey’s favorite things to do is take a long road trip together. This began with their first road trip down to the Outer Banks for their One Year Anniversary. This is when Mary Kate fell in love with the islands and more in love with Michael for introducing her to the Outer Banks. We continued to come back year after year, until we could no longer help ourselves and simply moved here.

We know we are asking you to travel pretty far to come spend time with us on our big day. We want you to know we truly appreciate all the love and support you are giving us.

Rental Agencies

Blue Heron Realty provides a choice of Ocracoke Island vacation rentals on the sound front, harbor and various locations around the village. Blue Heron Realty is the sister agency of Ocracoke’s Lightship Realty, another hometown company that specializes in property sales only. Ocracoke Island Realty offers more than 300 rental properties ranging from charming historic cottages to elegant new homes at various locations throughout the island. Lodges and Bed and Breakfast’s

Blackbeard’s Lodge, Ocracoke’s most historic hotel, is full of charm and classic beach hotel ambiance. It has the atmosphere of a B&B but with hotel privacy and is within easy walking and biking distance to island shops, restaurants and attractions. The lodge has 38 rooms, suites, efficiencies and apartments. Some rooms have a whirlpool bath and kitchen. Blackbeard’s is family oriented with an outdoor pool and game room with a pool table, Foosball tables, an air hockey table and video and board games. They offer bicycle and golf cart rentals, a fish-cleaning station and a large porch with rockers and swings. Pet-friendly rooms and WiFi access are available.

The Castle Bed and Breakfast looks like a magical sandcastle sitting on Ocracoke harbor. This bed and breakfast occupies a renovated historic structure built by Ocracoke legend Sam Jones and local craftsmen. It has 12 rooms, each with a private bath. A full breakfast is served. Children 8 and older are welcome in the B&B. Also on the property are 18 Courtyard Villas providing accommodations for families and longer stays with arrangements ranging from studios to three bedrooms with a kitchen and living room area. All Castle and Villa guests have access to the heated pool, bicycles, boat hookups and harbor. Pet Friendly.

Local Inn’s

Ocracoke Harbor Inn, this aptly named inn overlooks Silver Lake harbor and has private decks off most rooms so no one misses the view. The inn has 16 rooms and seven suites, all tastefully decorated. The studio-style suites offer two-person whirlpool tubs and kitchenettes. A complimentary continental breakfast is offered each morning. Guests have access to wireless internet in all rooms along with boat docks, picnic areas with gas grills and outdoor showers. Bikes and golf carts can be rented onsite. For a little more room, ask about the two-bedroom apartment or their one-, two- or three-bedroom cottages. The cottages have a three-night minimum. Pet Friendly.

Captain’s Landing Waterfront Inn is an example of the variety that Outer Banks hotels offer. It has elegant waterfront suites, a penthouse and a cottage, and all accommodations have excellent waterfront views and are on Silver Lake Harbor. Each suite offers a private deck, a fully equipped kitchen, a queen-size bedroom, a full-size sleep sofa in the living room and one and a half baths. The penthouse features a gourmet kitchen, a large living room and dining area, a master suite, a guest bedroom, an office/den with sleep sofa, two full baths and a laundry room. The cottage has two bedrooms, two baths, a living/dining area and a laundry room. Two large decks, an enclosed outdoor shower, a private courtyard with a gas grill and a picnic table round out the amenities. All accommodations offer WiFi, DVD players, linens and daily maid service. Bicycles and golf carts are for rent. Boat dockage is available upon request. Pet Friendly.

  • Continue onto US 40 W/NJ Turnpike S. Merge onto I-295 South
  • Take DE-1 South (Exit 4A)
  • Stay on DE-1 S for 58.6 Miles
  • Continue on DE-1S Bus s/ US-13 S/ N Dupont Blvd for 74.3 Miles
  • Turn Left onto US-13 S. Take I-64 East toward Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA
  • Take I-64 or I-664 to Chesapeake, VA
  • From I-64, take Exit 291B to Route 168, the Chesapeake Expressway*
  • Once in North Carolina, Route 168 turns into US-158 East
  • Follow US-158 East through Nags Head, NC to the junction of NC-12 South
  • Drive south on NC-12 down to Hatteras
  • Take NCDOT Ferry to Ocracoke

  • Turn Left onto US-13 S
  • Take I-64 East toward Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA
  • Take I-64 or I-664 to Chesapeake, VA
  • From I-64, take Exit 291B to Route 168, the Chesapeake Expressway*
  • Once in North Carolina, Route 168 turns into US-158 East
